Hilary Duff Begs Her Instagram Followers for “Magic Tricks” to Help with Her Newborn’s Colic

It doesn’t matter whether you are rich and famous or not, there is nothing quite like a colicky newborn to bring parents of all walks of life together in solidarity!

Hilary Duff has reached out to her 11 million followers on Instagram begging for some sort of “magic trick” to help ease her newborn daughter’s colic. Baby Banks Violet was born in October and has been suffering from colic resulting in crying in discomfort for hours on end.

“Calling all parents of colic babies…..this ends right? Can you ever set them down without them screaming OR waking up? We have read everything the internet has to offer… nothing besides nursing basically every hour or less helps! We have done all the obvious things ..please leave magic tricks in comments,” the 31-year-old entertainer wrote.

Girl, we hear ya. We’ve been there ourselves. Our eldest was loosely diagnosed with reflux and to be honest we still don’t know what those first four months were all about! We ended up taking her to a chiropractor after hearing something about that helping in some way, and on our last nerve decided to give it a try. Apparently, our daughter had a misaligned shoulder from her birth which was immediately corrected and she also had adjustments for reflux too. It was about that time that my milk gave up the ghost and we switched to formula and within a couple of weeks she was a perfectly happy baby again!

While we’ll never really know what she was screaming about for those first few months, we were so relieved that our little daughter was no longer experiencing discomfort and we moved on. The memory of those harrowing days has never left me though, and my heart immediately goes out to other families in this situation.

So it is understandable that Hilary’s post received plenty of support, advice and “magic tricks” with more than 25,000 comments!

“A tight swaddle, white noise, dark quiet room and bouncing on an exercise ball makes the crying stop for our colicky little one. It’s exhausting but at least she stops crying,” wrote one experienced mum.

“Mine was exactly like this. Turned out I had low supply. Also had to stop eating dairy and anything spicy. Lactose-free formula was what we needed. Trial and error girl, trial and error,” wrote another.

“I’m 27 and I still cannot be set down without screaming,” added one hilarious fan.

We hope little Banks feels comfortable and happy soon, and wish Hilary and her partner all the very best. It will get better.
