When Susan Medina and Darick Mead welcomed their first child, Ryder, earlier this year, Darick had a surprise in store for his life partner and mother of his child.
The new dad pulled off a surprise proposal, using newborn to be the messenger and ring bearer.
The couple in Nebraska had been together for 2 years and Darick had always joked to Susan that he didn’t want to get married for 40 years. But the new dad obviously changed his mind.
A month before Ryder was born, Darick bought an engagement ring and told the medical staff about his proposal idea.
After Susan had her c-section, the midwives came in to ‘check on’ Ryder, but they were actually putting him in his proposal onesie that read: “Mommy, will you marry my Daddy?”
Susan was surprised when she read her son’s onesie and saw a cushion-cut engagement ring sitting on the bedside, with Darrick waiting by her bed. The new mum was stoked with the proposal and was so surprised.
“I didn’t expect that at all. I thought I was going to be changing the baby’s diaper, looked up, and everyone had their phones out, so I was confused,” Susan told POPSUGAR. “But I was super, super happy!”
