Brandon Buell, the Dad of one year old miracle baby Jaxon Buell, has spoken out following the criticism he and his wife have received after celebrating the first birthday of their son.

Jaxon Buell has survived the odds after being diagnosed with Anencephaly while in the womb. Brandon and his wife Brittany were given the option to deliver Jaxon at 23 weeks to end the pregnancy, however Brandon says “No Doctor could tell us exactly what was wrong or what to expect.” Brandon and Brittany asked medical staff if their baby was suffering in the womb or if they thought there would be any possible health risks to Brittany during the delivery which they said no to. Brandon says had their answers been different they possibly would have made a different decision stating: “that wasn’t the case, and it was our choice, and only our choice. Jaxon was our baby and we only had one shot to do everything we could for him.”

Brandon explains “It’s normal to look at Jaxon and see a perfectly created boy and other babies truly do look weird and oversized to us… and it’s normal to Jaxon in public and always feel the looks, the stares, and the glances, usually from people that don’t even realise that they’re doing it.”

Jaxon has surprised Doctor’s with his survival, however that hasn’t stopped some commentators from questioning Brandon and Brittany as to why they would bring a child into the world who will most likely never be able to walk, talk, see and hear. Brandon has said that the couple knows they may have limited time with their precious son and want to love and celebrate every day he is with them. The couple has also been criticised over their Go Fund Me page, which has raised over $59,000 and has allowed Brittany to stay at home with Jaxon. Brandon has responded to this criticism by saying “The longer we can afford to keep Brittany home with Jaxon, the longer he can remain stimulated from that priceless mother to son relationship that no one else can give, and is one of the main reasons we believe that Jaxon is still here with us and is doing as well as he is.”
Brandon reiterates how proud he is of his precious son: “No matter who you are or what you believe in, it’s clear that Jaxon’s tiny footprints will have a lasting impression on this world, and that he has already touched and inspired more lives in one year than most of us ever will in our lifetime.”
