When I first visited the church that I currently attend with my family, I headed to the parent’s room to change my daughter’s nappy during the service.
As I headed to the change area in the bathroom, I was surprised to see wipes and a selection of different sized nappies in a basket, available for parents to use. I had never been to a parent room where this had been supplied, but it warmed my heart. It was a simple way to show the church cared for young families and were willing to help them in a time of need.
I only went in there yesterday to donate some new, spare nappies that I no longer needed to keep the basket topped up.
A simple gesture can change someone’s predicament. And as parents we can all remember that one time our baby had a poonami and the nappy bag hadn’t been restocked wipes – or heaven forbid – nappies.
One mum who had been in a similar situation decided to help another mum by leaving a donation in a bathroom.
No one knows who the mum is – except her name is Sarah, but Christina Causland saw the kind gesture, took a photo of it and shared it on Instagram.
Christina had stopped into a bathroom at HomeGoods in Solana Beach, California, where she came across a pile of new nappies and wipes with a note that read:
“I once found myself in this exact same spot with a newborn with a crazy blowout and NO DIAPERS or WIPES. An unmitigated disaster, that was! Just in case you have found yourself in the same sort of pickle, I brought in some wipes and diapers to save the day. Good luck out there! Happy Holidays! —Sarah”
I don’t know you Sarah, but you’re a gem! #gooddeeds #upworthy #HomeGoods #mademyday by @xtina_cauz
Even though Christina didn’t have children of her own, she was touched by this act of kindness by a stranger and shared it on Instagram.
“I can definitely relate to being in a pinch and not having what I needed.”
“I mostly just wanted to highlight her good deed and pass it along in hopes it would inspire others to do so.”
This heartwarming act of kindness can cause a domino effect for others to be kind to others.
Shopping Centres and public areas can be absolutely chaotic this time of year and tempers can run short. But let’s look out for each other, and find ways to bless someone this Christmas to keep the good cheer going.
You just never know what the recipient is going through, and your act could save their butt (or their baby’s) this Christmas.
