This Photo of a Baby in a Tube Isn’t What it Seems

At first glance, it looks like this baby got stuck in a blender. On closer inspection, it looks like a baby in a tube.

The photo was submitted on Redditt by bretstar and there were many confused comments on what the actual heck was going on in the picture.

What looks to be a squished baby in a tube, is no photoshop joke. It’s a medical device called a Pigg-O-Stat and it’s designed to hold an infant in place so an x-ray can be taken.

Every parent knows the moment a baby is laid on their back, they just want to wriggle over. This contraption holds the baby upright, without complications or movement so the first image is clear and results in the baby getting less exposure to radiation.

When the photo was uploaded to Reddit, there were a lot of confused and humourous comments made about the baby.

One commenter said, ‘It looks like that baby is about to be sent through the tubes at the bank drive through.’

While another referred to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, titling the picture, “Augustus Gloop: The Early Years.”
