A fluffy-teddy like snowsuit saved a 9 month old baby’s life after thugs threw a firework at the young family while they walked on a street in Hull, UK.
Young mum Chloe, 19 and her partner Brandon, 19, were walking down the street, pushing their 9 month-old-baby son, Charlie, in the pram when two men launched a firework at the family.
The firework flew underneath the pram and exploded next to the baby.
Chloe suffered 24 burns, many on her legs. Three of the wounds will be scars for life.
Incredibly, little Charlie came out of the incident unscathed because his snowsuit protected him from the sparks.
Chloe explained, “We saw some people playing around with fireworks. We didn’t know what was happening at first. Then all of a sudden it came shooting towards us. We didn’t have time to move out the way – it just happened so fast. My legs were burning and I ran into the road in tears, screaming. It all went so fast. My immediate thought was Charlie.”
The paramedics took off Charlie’s suit to check none of the firework penetrated through the suit, and none had.
Chloe explained, “They were obviously very shocked because the suit had saved him. Doctors said it practically saved his life.”
Chloe had only put Charlie in the suit as it had started to get colder. Had he been dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, the consequences could have been a lot worse.
Brandon received minor burns, but both he and Chloe are temporarily death in one ear.
Police are investigating the case to find the suspects.
