A baby born on a Jetstar Asia flight has been named after the airline.
A pregnant mother gave birth to her baby boy while on a flight from Singapore to Yangon, Burma on Friday 22nd April.
During the three-hour Jetstar Asia flight, the pregnant mum went into labour and gave birth to Saw Jet Star, weighing 2.9kg. Three doctors were onboard who were able to guide the mother as she gave birth.
The proud mum honoured both the airline and the Jetstar customer service manager, Saw Ler Htu, for being helpful as she gave birth.
Jetstar announced they would offer $1000 worth of baby supplies to the new mum and flight vouchers to the doctors that were on board the flight who helped with the delivery.
A statement made by the airline through their spokesperson said they were “proud of the way (the crew) assisted with the help of generous doctors on board to ensure the safe delivery of our youngest ever passenger on a flight”.
“The happy arrival of baby Jet Star was met with a round of applause from other passengers on the plane, so we’re sure it’s not a moment they’ll ever forget either.”
Jetstar allows women up to 40 weeks pregnant to travel on their flights no longer than four hours, but from 28 weeks they must provide a medical certificate before they can fly.
