Social media has made it easier for parents to announce the birth of their baby to family and friends, but one couple decided to share the birth of their son to the world via Facebook Live streaming.
Christian comedian, Fakamalo Kihe Eiki from Sacramento, went to Facebook on Monday to share a live stream video of his wife Tina Teaki Kanongataa Sapoi’s labour, including the delivery of their newborn son.
The 45 minute video was captioned “Let’s try pushing baby out” has been viewed over 29,000 times and shared over 51 times on Facebook.
Live streaming a baby’s birth is definitely a new way to announce the birth of a child.
During the labour, Fakamalo’s wife resisted the urge to scream, although the video shows the strain and the pain in her face as she labours and pushes her newborn son out.
Fakamalo joked with the doctors on the video, ‘She is having a baby, and she yells at me more at home than having a baby which is kind of weird.’
The video is not graphic as the camera focused on the top half of Tina’s body.
Behind the camera Fakamalo comments, ‘Man, there are some people who have gone through this for nine hours, just pushing. You know, it’s crazy.’
The baby is born around the 37 minute mark of the live stream video. The video builds momentum as Fakamalo and the midwives urge Tina to push.
The full video is fascinating to watch which can be viewed here.
When the baby is delivered Fakamalo cries out, ‘Baby’s out. Yes! ‘Thank you Lord. Thank you Jesus.’
Afterwards, he encourages his wife, ‘You did awesome. You did good. You didn’t have to get a c-section.’
Congratulations to the Fakamalo family.
Would you let your partner Facebook live stream your birth? Or should it be a special even between couples and their family members? We’d love to know your thoughts.
