An English woman has delivered her own baby at the entrance of a hospital during a one-minute labour.
Jessica Stubbins, who lives 270km north of London, was dropped off to the entrance of the hospital to make her way to the maternity ward, when her baby arrived while her husband was still parking the car.
A CTV camera filmed Jessica walking through the hospital doors and leaning over an enquiries desk where she literally gave birth to her baby daughter, Lucy.
Mrs Stubbins told national television of the quick birth of her baby girl,”I just told Tom he best drop me off at the door as he parked the car,” Mrs Stubbins told Good Morning Britain.
“And then I was trying to close the door really quickly and then as I got out I just knew that she was on the way.”
When her husband Tom realized what was happening, he ran out of his car to be with his wife.
“It was only about a hundred feet away and I still missed it.”
“Jess was saying ‘it’s a girl, it’s a girl, I’m sorry, I’m sorry’ because I’d missed it all,” Mr Stubbins said.
“She felt guilty because I’d missed it and I was just in absolute shock.”
Nurses raced to help Mrs Stubbins after hearing a scream which they thought had come from the labour room.
Nurse Gemma Hoeft said, “But then I heard it again and then I heard footsteps. So I turned around and I saw Tom running, and obviously I could see Jessica stooped over. I thought that girl’s not going to make it.”
Mum and bub are well after the speedy delivery.
