When a Birth Announcement Sent as a Group Text Message Goes Wrong

New technology has changed the way we announce the birth of our babies from the phone call, to the text message and now the status update on social media. Some couples still keep it traditional by announcing to the immediate family first before sharing the announcement on Facebook or organizing a family member to share the news online.

One family member to new parents, Mark and Lindsey, decided to send a group text message to announce the birth of the couple’s baby boy Cason, but one of the phone numbers no longer belonged to someone they knew.

Once the members of the group message realized they had a stranger included in their conversation, they laughed and apologized for getting the stranger caught up in their exciting news. But the stranger ended up surprising the group and new parents by congratulating the new parents in person – bearing a gift for the newborn.

I’m not sure whether I would have freaked out to have a stranger rock up to the hospital after I had given birth. Thankfully the couple saw the kind side as can be seen by their Facebook post.

How did you announce the birth of your baby to family and friends? Would you have freaked out if a stranger visited you in hospital?
