Unborn Artists: Babies Painting Via the Womb to Raise Awareness of Baby Survival Rates in Africa

The survival rate of babies born in Africa is quite low and one charity, United Artists, came up with a creative way to raise awareness and funds to support pregnant mums in Africa.

Six pregnant mums from Belgium who were between 32 and 39 weeks pregnant, sat adjacent a blank canvas with paintbrushes, dipped in paint, strapped to their bellies. Their unborn baby’s movement would move the paintbrush to create one-of-a-kind art. The art is being sold at auctions and baby showers to raise money. The funds are sent back to Africa to give pregnant mums proper care needed so their babies have a better survival rate.

It’s an unusual way to raise awareness and funds, but the film is incredibly moving as these pregnant mums smile while their unborn child makes a difference without having been born yet.
