A mum-to-be has shared her birth announcement, showing the struggle it has taken her to conceive her first child.
Macy, from the blog Martinis and Medicine, wanted to show what she has gone through to conceive her baby. The photograph is a flatlay of syringes and medication used to get her one successful round of IVF.
On a blog post named ‘A Work of A.R.T. | Our Rainbow Baby‘, the mum-to-be wrote, “It only took four years, three miscarriages, depression, 107 hormone injections, one surgery, two procedures, over 100 suppositories, and several thousand dollars to get our baby.”
Her ‘infertility pregnancy announcement’ certainly touched many as it was shared virally online. It’s Macy’s hope that her blog and the image can encourage other families who are struggling through infertility.
“What our baby does do is fill us with a love and joy and gratefulness that I never knew possible.”
“When I look at that ultrasound my heart actually skips. For years I lived never knowing if I would ever have an ultrasound photo hanging on my fridge.
“I’m so in love I can hardly stand it.”
Since the announcement, Macy has been sharing updates of her pregnancy journey on Instagram. Macy started blogging about her fertility journey in 2014 and shares the heartbreak of unsuccessful IVF attempts and miscarriage.
We wish Macy all the best with this pregnancy.
