A video of a microscopic view of breastmilk is going viral on Facebook.

A mum from Colorado Springs uploaded the video on Facebook so people could see how amazing breastmilk is.

Jansen Howard shared the video of her breastmilk with the caption, “You guys… this is SO COOL!!!!!!!! this is the living liquid gold we call breast milk in motion!!!! My dad is a blood microscopist and this is a single drop off my breast milk under his microscope!!!! It’s miraculous and it’s ALIVE tailored to my babies needs at this moment!!!! Absolutely amazing!!! Follow me on Instagram… jansenshowardart_”

The video has been viewed over 1.2 million times and shared nearly 12,000 times on Facebook.

Howard is an artist and a mum to an 11-month-old daughter. Her daughter had been sick and she had heard, “how breast milk actually changes in composition constantly to fit the needs of your child, like when they are sick, your breast milk is full of antibodies tailored to whatever they have,” she said.

Howard’s mother is battling cancer, and to monitor the illness, her mum’s blood is checked under a microscope to see if her white blood cell count is up. On one such count, Howard asked if a drop of her breastmilk could be seen through the microscope.

The young mum told The Huffington Post, “As I was reading an article about how breast milk carries up to a million white blood cells in one drop, my mom was already looking at her blood, so I asked if we could see the white blood cells in my milk while she had the microscope on,” she recalled.

The immediate image of the breastmilk under the microscope moved the family.

“We all instantly gasped at how beautiful it was!” she said.

Howard decided to share the video online, sending it to breastfeeding support groups on Facebook and the video went viral.

The young mum admits her breastfeeding experience hasn’t been easy, but the connection with her daughter has been powerful enough to prompt her to create portraits around nursing. She hopes that the video and her artwork will encourage mums to consider breastfeeding their babies.

“I know if I was on the fence, seeing the beauty of this video would definitely act as motivation to give my child this amazing ever-changing food source,” she explained.
