A photographer in Utah has created a photo album of children fighting cancer, living their ‘dream’ of what they want to be when they grow up.
The inspiring project by photographer, Jonathan Diaz, asked the children to believe in the impossible for his ‘Anything Can Be’ photo project. The project was not only personal but a way for the kids to visualize their dreams and see themselves as ‘courageous and strong’ to help them fight cancer.
When Diaz asked each child to believe in the impossible and share their dream, he put their dream to life through a custom photoshoot experience.
Diaz told Buzzfeed, “I wanted to tell stories that mattered that could inspire and help other people.”
“I am fascinated with children’s imaginations – they tend to believe that anything is possible, they are so optimistic. I wanted to help these kids believe in their dreams.”
The children were transformed into superheroes or characters from fairy tales. The project requires volunteers to sponsor a child and 100% of the donations are used to set up the child’s dream photo.
The photos have been collated into the ‘Anything Can Be’ book called ‘True Heroes’ which also features the children as characters in modern-day fairy tales.
One mum, Jennifer said, “I wish I could express to you how much our picture means to us. It is truly priceless.”
The full collection of photos can be seen in the ‘Anything Can Be’ album.
