The Nappy Change Challenge: Who Changes The Nappies in Your Household?

nappy change challenge

Nappy changing is not one of my favourite rituals of the day, but it’s a non-negotiable if you need to improve the air quality in the room and protect the skin around your darling’s bum.

Having 2 children in nappies has meant there have been a lot of nappy changes throughout the day. I look forward to my days where I’m off duty because let’s be honest, nappy changing can be a stressful duty, especially when the mess has escaped the confines of the nappy and/or your darling decides nappy changing time is the time to wriggle like a pig in mud.

Being the chief nappy changer in our household during the week, my husband definitely helps out when he’s home and has never told me nappy changing is my responsibility. He gets in and changes those nappies. Sometimes we have a silent rule that the first one to smell it has to deal with it.

Of course, it’s nice to have a day where no nappy duty is required which is left for special days like Mother’s Day and my Birthday.

My husband and I don’t compete over who has changed the most nappies or who changed the shittiest one last. Sometimes if it’s been a poonami, there might be a yelp for more wipes or support. (those nappy bags can be so hard to open with one hand when you need them!)

One couple in the US, Desiree and Ryan Fortin who have triplets, took to Youtube to share a video with a challenge of who could change their triplets diapers (as the US likes to call them) the quickest. Would mummy win hands down or would dad give mum a run for her money? Check out the video to find out who won.

Who changes the most nappies in your household? Do you have nappy changing competitions with your partner or keep a tally on who changed the last nappy? Ever laughed when you’ve dodged a bullet and your partner has been the one to change a poonami?

They were both pretty good. Dad had to move one of the babies out of the way. Mum probably has more experience as she has to do the ones while Dad is at work. If one parent has a much weaker sense of smell I suspect that one will do more of the poo ones.
