On the 2nd of April 2016, a family in Fort Worth, Texas, was devastated by the loss of their 5-year-old son, Joshua.
A frantic mum reported her son as missing and a frantic search for the little boy ensued. Officer Damon Cole from Fort Worth Police Station was the first person to respond to the search call out.
Tragically, the officer found little Joshua in a backyard pool. Officer Cole pulled the little boy from the pool and did all he could to revive the 5-year-old, but to no avail.
Since the drowning tragedy, Officer Cole prays for him and his family.
“There’s not a minute that has gone by that I haven’t thought about Joshua and his family,” he told a local Dallas news station.
When Officer Cole pulled Joshua from the pool, he noticed the little boy was a fan of Spider-Man as he was wearing a Spider-Man t-shirt and Spider-Man sneakers.
Ironically Officer Cole is known for dressing up as various superheroes to visit kids with cancer. He drives his custom Superman Dodge Charger to visit each sick child.
The family asked Office Cole to make a special tribute to the funeral, to attend wearing his Spider-Man costume, so that Joshua could be laid to rest next to his hero.
The funeral was attended by hundreds of people at Laurel Lane Memorial Park, and Officer Cole stood and guarded the casket during the entire time.
The pictures are moving as is the video. Rest in peace little boy and our prayers are with the family and the officer as they deal with the grief of losing a much-loved little boy.
