You Can’t Not Smile at These Babies Enjoying Their Floating Baby Spa Experience

What mum doesn’t enjoy a trip to the day spa? You get pampered, it’s quiet and there are no kids asking you a million questions. You walk away relaxed, thinking when you can afford to go again!

If you know how amazing it feels to go to a day spa, imagine how your baby would feel with their very own baby spa experience?

The Baby Spa Perth is a new concept, part of a franchise started in South Africa, which is basically a day spa for babies. And the babies LOVE it.

“Koa had colic & reflux, was really difficult to settle. After visiting Baby Spa a few times there was such a huge difference in her & within that time her colic was gone & reflux medication was stopped. I have no doubt Baby Spa played a huge part in helping her overcome both colic & reflux! ” Kate Ilijash by @babyspaperth

It’s the first spa of it’s kind in Australia and caters treatments for newborns from two days to six months old. The spa experiences allow caregivers to share a unique bonding experience with their baby. Baby massage and postnatal water flotation (also known as Hydrotherapy) are the treatments offered. Friends and family are welcome to watch the babies float in their ‘bubby’ as they enjoy their hydrotherapy session, but it’s specifically a bonding time between parent and baby.

Day 40 of 365 – WATER #repost I love this pic of my little #water baby taken at @babyspaperth a couple of months ago now. She loved every minute of her baby spa trips and went every week from 10 days old up until almost 4 months old. #365mumtastic #thestoryofmum #mumlife #perthbaby #babylove #baby #instababies #instababy #proudmama #babygirl #photoaday #potd #365challenge #samsung #daughter #ericasaurusrex #cutebaby #swim #zenbaby #babyspa ? @bartandsonn ?✨ by @babyspaperth

Some studies have found hydrotherapy can help babies with their balance, coordination, strength and sleep. It supports the development of your baby as they learn to move their body. Yet one doctor, when asked to comment on the benefits of the treatment, couldn’t recommend it as there hasn’t been enough research to clarify the benefits. Dr. Shahrouz Ganjian of Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California said, “The only place where aquatic therapy is shown to be beneficial is in kids with developmental delays.”

No matter the research, the main benefit of the baby spa is one-on-one time between parents and their babies. And studies have shown baby bonding can boost immunity,  prevent diseases and increase your baby’s IQ.

Anita Yap, co-owner of the Baby Spa Perth told Huffington Post, “One of the main benefits we love the most is the parent’s bonding experience.”

Happy Friday…Our patented floatation device enables babies to gain the benefits of hydrotherapy at the earliest stage of their development. Unaffected by gravity, the BUBBY allows babies to move freely and have fun in water, experimenting with and developing a range of movements at his/her own pace. And who wouldn’t want more bonding time with their baby?

At this stage, The Baby Spa operates in Perth, but who knows how long before baby spas open around the country so all parents can enjoy this bonding experience with their newborn.

If you live in Perth and want to book with your newborn, the hydrotherapy sessions can last 10 to 30 minutes in the water and the length of massage will depend on each baby. Each session costs around $85. Check out the website for details and how to book.

If a baby spa was available in your town, would you visit with your newborn?
