It’s a phenomenon only 1 in 48 million families experience and the Perkins family beat the odds on August 16th.

Caitlin and Tom Perkins share the same birthday and now they have a third person to celebrate with – their daughter.

Baby Lucy Marie Perkins wasn’t due for another week, yet fate intervened and Caitlin gave birth to their first child on her and her husband’s Birthdays, August 16.

Lucy’s birth date was definitely unplanned, but there was talk of the possibility of the baby coming on the couple’s birthdate during the final weeks.

Obstetrician, Dr Brad Robinson had cheekily suggested the couple could induce labour on the 16th August, but Caitlin wasn’t interested.

“I was thinking, any day but the 16th,” she said.

But baby Lucy had other ideas.

The Queensland couple live on a property at Dirranbandi some 700km from Brisbane. They are stoked that Lucy is a happy and healthy baby.

When asked if the couple were good at exchanging gifts on their birthday, Tom admitted they were ‘usually quite good’.

But Caitlin was quick to point out, “I was the only one who delivered a gift this year though.”

“We’ll probably have a big party when we turn sixty and she turns thirty.”
