In a video that has gone viral on Facebook, a pregnant woman in Colorado was able to share one lasting memory with her dying mother.
Taylor Masilotti asked to have her 19 week ultrasound next to her mother Donna Callender, who was battling stage 4 brain and lung cancer.
A video that taped the big reveal on the gender of the baby has become not only a bittersweet memory for Taylor, but has sparked emotion around the world as it’s been viewed 2.3 million times.
Taylor captioned her video with this post,
Wednesday afternoon was one of my forever favorite memories I got to share with my mom. I got to lay next to her, hold her hand and cry happy tears while we found out the gender of the baby. I can’t thank the hospital enough for allowing this to happen. For allowing me to create my last memory with my mom !! I am forever grateful ! I love you so much xoxo
Unfortunately, 3 days after the ultrasound, Donna passed away.
In the video Donna and Taylor clasp hands and cry happy tears when they find out Taylor is pregnant with a girl.
Taylor had originally wanted her mum to be present at her 20 week scan, but when Donna became to weak to go to the appointment, Taylor organized for the appointment to go to her.
‘Oh, wow. Look at it move,’ Donna says.
The doctor does the usual checks over the anatomy of the baby, pointing out hands, eyes and the umbilical cord to the mother and daughter.
When the baby begins to move, the doctor tells the future mum and grandma that the baby is smiling at them.
The doctor then announces the gender of the baby.
‘That’s a little girl. You have a daughter,’ the doctor says again.
The baby will be named Stella Kay, as posted by Taylor on Facebook.
The name has significance as Stella and Kay were Donna’s middle names.
