Last month we shared the story of 65 year old Annegret Raunigk who was pregnant with quads as a result of undergoing IVF using donated sperm and eggs, and last week Annegret gave birth to her four children who were born at just 26 weeks gestation.
Annegret (who is already a mother of 13 children and has 7 grandchildren) gave birth to three boys and a girl via a caesarean at a Berlin hospital last week. The four children are reported to be in good health and at birth weighed between 655g – 960g.
The birth of Annegret’s quads now makes her the oldest woman to have ever given birth to quads, a title previously held by Merryl Fudel who gave birth to her quads at age 55.
We wish Annegret and her babies all the best.
