A three year old girl in the US has stunned doctors by making a full recovery after being pulled from the water, blue.

Alise Nipper and her family were attending a pool party with friends in late July when she was discovered not moving in the pool and had turned blue.  Alise showed no signs of life when she was pulled out of the pool and her Mum Jamie performed CPR for 12 minutes until heart started beating again.

Jamie’s friend Heather Kyle who is also a nurse and CPR instructor assisted Jamie and admitted she “had little hope” but said “we are going to do CPR until an ambulance gets here.”  Jamie was amazed when she felt Alise’s heartbeat return and she was transferred quickly to hospital in a critical condition once the ambulance arrived.

Doctors were not optimistic about her prognosis with Dr Jeremy Garret saying “Her lungs took on severe injury which continued to be a problem.”  Doctors were then stunned when after just six days in hospital Alise began to show signs of improvement and after doctors removed her ventilator, she woke up and began talking and even singing!  Just two weeks later she was home.

Of Alise’s miraculous recovery Dr Garret says “for her brain to come through this and be as functional as possible is astounding. Prayers and luck and divine intervention were the key factors.”
