No one likes to be pulled off the road by the police, but one Texas dad was, and he got the biggest surprise when he wasn’t issued a fine.
The Texas dad was pulled over by police for driving his three daughters without car seats. The father committed two other offences – driving a car with an expired registration and with a malfunctioning light which would have incurred three fines.
Cedar Park Police Officer Justin Gower says when he pulled the man over and noticed his three little girls riding in the back with no car seats, he decided to help. Instead of issuing the dad with three tickets, he pooled his money with another officer, Cale Hawkins, to buy three car seats for the girls, aged 1, 3, and 4.
Officer Gower had heard about the man from other officers in the area and could tell he was having a tough time.
The dad did not want to be recognized but issued a statement to police saying the officer’s gesture was nothing short of a miracle.
It only takes one decision to be compassionate and help a situation, instead of making it worse. The officers described their action as ‘just the right thing to do’.
