GIRL POWER goes global to achieve #GlobalGoals. The #GlobalGoals are making the Sustainable Development Goals famous in order to end poverty, fight inequality & tackle climate change. In their latest campaign to take to the United Nations in September, Global Goals have released a music clip based around the Spice Girl Classic “What I really really want.”
It is a clever piece, catchy and frivolous, yet at the same time it tackles the serious issues that women and young girls face in society, still, in this day in age.
Victoria Beckham, of Posh Spice fame, has been vocal in her support of this movement.
She has been quoted as saying:
“20 years on girl power is still being used to empower a new generation. I’m so proud of The Global Goals.”
This clip tackles issues such as the following:
- End Violence Against Girls
- Quality Education for all Girls
- End Child Marriage
- Equal Pay for Equal Work
The clip goes on to ask it’s viewers
What do you really want?
“Girl Power has come a long way, let’s take it further.
Share a picture of #WhatIReallyReallyWant and we’ll pass it on to the world leaders at the United Nations in September”
On September 25th 2015, 193 world leaders commit to 17 Global Goals to achieve 3 extraordinary things between now and the year 2030. End extreme poverty. Fight inequality & injustice. Fix climate change. The Global Goals for sustainable development could get these things done. In all countries. For all people.
In 2015 world leaders promised to put girls and women first when they signed up to the Sustainable Development Goals to end poverty, fix climate change and tackle inequalities.
Girls and women are disproportionately affected by these challenges and are key to building resilient communities to withstand them.
That’s why we need to ensure World Leaders and the Secretary General of the United Nations listen to the voices of girls and women and put them first in policies and plans.
2016 is our chance to use our collective power and tell world leaders what we really really want for girls and women.
If you make the noise, we’ll get your message to world leaders at the UN in September.
The Global Goals will only ever be achieved if governments, businesses, communities and YOU invest in girls and women.
