Two young boys aged 5 and 7 have received severe sunburn while out on an excursion at a water park with their daycare.
Their Mother, Shaunna Broadway, said that she picked them up from daycare that afternoon and was shocked at how burnt they were.
“I got off work at 5 p.m. and went to pick them up, and they were clearly burned. [The employees] were actually making fun of my older son, because both boys got sunburns but he was being a ‘baby’ and crying about it,” she said.
The staff blamed the boys, saying that the water park or the teachers didn’t have sunscreen available for the children so they were all told to leave their clothes on – but they boys didn’t listen.

The local hospital told Shaunna that not alot could be done until the burns had blistered and advised her to get burn cream and pain medication, but the boys were up in pain all night.
When they woke up the next burning, both boys were in excruciating pain and the burns were blistering.
“We took the boys to the local hospital on Saturday, where the doctors lanced the boils and blisters on their backs, applied cream, and sent us home with more pain medicine,” says Broadway. “But the boys kept screaming and crying all day. My oldest one’s chest started hurting and he said he was having trouble breathing.”

On Sunday, the boys were flown to a Children’s Hospital where they were diagnosed with second and third degree burns.
“My oldest is a redhead so he’s more fair-skinned and his burn was much worse,” Shaunna said.
The boys are currently being treated at the Children’s Hospital until they are well enough to go home.

The family have filed a police report and are currently looking for an attorney.
No other children were reported to be burnt. The daycare has refused to comment.
