Baby Name Trend: Boy Names Becoming Popular For Girls

A name list many parents don’t possibly consider when naming their baby is the the list of names suggested for the opposite sex.

But maybe many parents with baby girls have been checking the boy names list because it’s becoming a popular trend to name your daughter with a name that has been used traditionally for males.

Celebrities like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds kicked off the trend by naming their daughter James and Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher followed suit by naming their daughter Wyatt.

Nameberry has seen a surge of names traditionally associated with boys, being used to name girls. While the numbers aren’t huge compared to the popular names that are generally associated with each sex, Nameberry have compiled a list of boy names that have been used for girls over recent years.

Some notable names that didn’t make the list, but should be mentioned is David. Eighteen baby girls were named David in 2015, as well as nine named Henry and five named Maximus and Oscar.

The growing number of parents choosing to buck the traditional name trend shows that gender fluidity maybe taking a hold with names.

But it seems the trend is only happening with the naming of girls and not as much vice versa.

Huffington Post believe true parity will occur when parents name their sons’ traditional girls names like Serena and Sarah.

I could be old fashioned but I’m not sure whether that will ever happen. But I could be wrong.

We’d love to hear your thoughts. Did you give your daughter a traditional boy’s name? Do you think names should be gender neutral?

My daughter born feb 2016….we name her Jasper, we didnt do any research but we lovesss the name and yes!we know its boys name and we got a lot dirty look when we said our baby is a girl and her name is jasper. Only 1 person which is my old neighbor they said its taken from a stone or jewel stone isn’t it?which is yes true and we love the meaning of it. We dont care about what ppl think….we think its suit and match her and her character beautifully. And we never going to change it…..we always oppose a girly girly name for our baby girl.
