One of the first things parents purchase when they know they’re expecting is a baby names book or baby names app.
Choosing a unique name is quite important to many parents, and so they will hunt for names with the different meanings, unusual pronunciations and most commonly of late, confusing spellings.
Author Sabrina Rogers-Anderson has compiled a list of some of the most unusual names and listed them in a book called The Little Book of Bogan Baby Names.
The book includes more than 200 baby bogan names and their meanings.
While some parents may find the book demeaning, Ms Rogers-Anderson explained, ‘Most readers have taken my bogan musings as they were intended – a good-natured laugh.
‘We all have a bit of bogan in us that needs to be celebrated. Truth be told, I can’t help but like some of these names just a little bit.’
So what names made the ‘Bogan’ list?
Names that combined two names in one like J’Zayden, which is a combo of popular names Jayden and Zaiden.
Nicomachus, Harleen and Braelyn were included.
Names which are common, but spelled unusually were also included in the list like Alycesaundra, Torianna-Sharisse, Kymberleigh, Jhamasyn and Mackennziee.
Names with different spellings were also included. Tamika has four different spellings – Tahmykkha, Tameekah, Tameka-Jane, and Tammika, which all made the bogan baby name list.
Brand names also made the cut like Jack Daniel, Diesel, Ricca-Donna, Prada and Jaguar.
