The ‘Twin’ Strangers Who Met in Real Life!

If you’ve ever wondered if there is someone else out there who looks just like you, well Twin Strangers is for you!  Twin Strangers was founded by Niamh Geaney after she found two of her very own twin lookalikes, as a way to helping connect others with their practically identical partners.  Originally created as a social experiment with a couple of friends to find their closest lookalike within 28 days – it took Niamh just 2 weeks to find her first lookalike who lived a little over an hour away from home!  When describing her first meeting with her lookalike Karen Niamh says:

‘I was ridiculously nervous about how I would react to meeting someone who looks like me, for the duration of our encounter I pretty much stared at her. I couldn’t get over her face…  And some of the expressions she would pull I would think to myself or say aloud: Oh my God that’s my face.”  I can’t remember the number of times I said “this is so freaky.” It was truly amazing.’

Jennifer from Texas says she was inspired by Niamh’s meeting with her first lookalike:  ‘I was really quite fascinated with the whole thing, but especially that they reportedly shared similarities beyond their appearance… I wanted to see if I found another person that looked like me, would they act like me too? Would I feel a kinship?’

Jennifer was shocked to find her lookalike Ambra within 5 minutes of registering with the Twin Strangers website, saying:

‘I just put in my parameters and there she was’.  After contacting Twin Strangers, Jennifer was in disbelief when they made the offer to fly her Ambra from her home in North Carolina to Texas to meet in person.

Both Jennifer and Ambra admitted to feeling nervous about meeting each other in person for the first time, but after getting to know each other despite their 10 year age difference they share similar interests in reading, science and horses and amazingly are born just two days apart!

While together both of the ladies also had their hair and make up done in the same style to really highlight just how similar they are.  Jennifer says:

‘There was a moment after we did our makeup that I looked in the mirror. I thought I was looking at myself at first, but the mirror wasn’t angled properly for that… when I realised my mistake, I turned the mirror and felt a jolt of shock when I saw us together. It was actually a pretty terrifying feeling, like seeing your own ghost.’

It wasn’t just Ambra and Jennifer who were shocked following their makeovers, Jennifer’s Mother and Fiance Travis were also amazed – with Travis stating “It’s uncanny.. creepy”.

Of the experience Ambra says “Everyone should be searching for their own Twin Strangers… It was a fantastic, unique experience and I can’t wait to meet my next one.”

Lauren

Lauren founded her website Create Bake Make as a way to justify the ridiculous amount of baking she loves to do. She has a super sweet tooth and enjoying a slice of cake (or two) is one of her guilty indulgences. As a Mum of two little boys, when she isn't creating fun activities for the kids or breaking up arguments over toy trucks and cars, you will find her in the kitchen baking up a storm - or hiding in the pantry with the latest cooking magazine and a hot cup of coffee!
